The best way to have a beautiful smile that will last is to keep your teeth and gums healthy. At Young Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we provide regular teeth cleanings and exams so that we can catch problems early in their development, instead of having to do more serious dental work later on. We work with patients of all ages to help them develop the habits and practices that will keep their teeth strong and looking good. TMJ - Bruxism Treatment

Strictly speaking, "TMJ" is an acronym for the "temporo-mandibular joint," which is the joint where the jaw attaches to the skull. More broadly, TMJ has come to refer to a variety of problems with this joint. TMJ symptoms include popping and clicking, as well as head and jaw pain, earaches, and difficulty opening and closing the mouth.

A number of factors can cause or aggravate TMJ. Stress, poor posture such as that caused by holding your head forward to look at a computer screen, and grinding your teeth, known as "bruxism," can all lead to TMJ disorders. At Young Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we have treatments available to help alleviate TMJ, including bite appliances that prevent excessive teeth grinding. If you are suffering from TMJ, contact us to find out which treatment might best help you.
